George Chuck Patterson

George Patterson - Jackson, MS

"As an IDEA Digital Organizer, it's my job to make sure that powerful stories are shared. Specifically, I'm working on creating a more noticeable digital footprint around the work that is happening in Mississippi. From cool and critical conversations, to intense and intelligent after school programs, there are great examples of democratic education happening in Mississippi, and It's my responsibility to let the world know about them."

Ilona Bito

Ilona Bito - Brooklyn, NY

"I am helping with the upcoming NY Innovation Tour, building connections with other organizations and people to map the complex educational landscape of NY, and writing for the IDEA blog to reflect on innovative professional development opportunities."

They wrote letters to partners about fundraising for adding garbage cans and trash collection. They also spoke at a county council meeting on the subject. Their efforts have rallied community support and donation offers. The full story is here.
