Systems Thinking

Summary:

Sovereignity has to do with the "deeper" capacity that forms at the core of the system - its ability to bring about its own transformation, to engage the energy and commitment of its own staff, to reflect and learn, to maintain its own integrity, and to treat itself as a human community.

- Peter Morgan

Visible or not, the educational experiences of young people and communities are the results of and impacted by an educational system. That system has a history and is also a time of challenge and change. IDEA focuses its attention on bright spots that are in relationship to current and emerging systems and not removed entirely from them.

The habits and applications of systems thinking into schools and districts is providing powerful examples of how to redesign learning to be more human, personal, relevant, and just.
