Schools become centers of the community and are open to everyone – all day, every day, evenings and weekends.
Cincinnatti is a city that definitely is home and hub to what is rapidly spreading as a solution as communities look for powerful replacements for more superficial reform efforts. This is also bringing some confusion as "community schools" is both a kind of important general descriptor and a specfic set of practices and resources that the Coaltion of Community Schools has been stitching together.
We embrace both. No one can own a great concept AND how great that so many people have built up a history and distinct set of tools for communities, educators, young people, and policy makers to work with.
