If you're new to IDEA, make sure to check out our welcome page for ways to start getting involved.Here are some other ways that you can ignite this movement for educational change:
- Spread the word.
- IDEA wants the public to know about democratic education and make it more available to all young people. You can help by forwarding the link to our launch video to 5 friends.
- Invite others you think would be interested (students, school administrators, and anyone else) to check out our site and leave comments.
- Stay connected.
- Read the blogs and news feed, make comments, and engage in dialogue.
- "Like" us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and join our Flickr group to share photos of your school or program.
- Get updates by signing up for our email list.
- Ask any questions you have about IDEA and democratic education. Someone from IDEA will try to respond to you within 2-3 days.
- Tell us what other resources and services you could use to enhance your work, or what skills you might have to offer to others.
- Take the IDEA survey, sharing your interest in education and the ways we might be of help to you.
- Take action.
- This month, attend a launch party in your area. Contact us to find one near you. If there isn't one close by, volunteer to host one yourself, with guidance from the IDEA team.
- Submit a resource: If you know of any resource -- a school, an article, a company, or an individual -- within the democratic education realm, send it to us at info@democraticeducation.org.
- Donate: It costs money to keep IDEA's ship running. Help us advance democratic education by making a contribution. Any amount is welcome. No amount is too small.
- Evaluate your school: Download the PDF survey from our website and use it to determine your school's strengths and growth areas.
If you'd like to get closely involved with us, volunteer, apply to be an intern (email us to let us know your interests), or respond to our call-out for regional organizers.
IDEA will only be as strong as our community. Join us to help all young people gain the tools they need to build a more just, sustainable, and democratic society.
